The Enchanted Dagger

Without further ado…a new Issue of The Enchanted Dagger is here…#7 0f 9.  Imagine all those Kalthar pages building up to this spectacular moment!  I’m pretty happy with how our new cover turned out.  Trumpian Kalthar, aluding to a much earlier rendering of Trump/Kalthar from issue 2, feels even more appropriate in the current moment than when I first drew it in…omg I think it was January 2022!  It was a bad slump, what can i say.  In any case, can’t wait to see how this one looks on the tablet.

Kalthar’s giant head was the last thing i worked on so all the color shading and highlights were made in photoshop.  His body’s color highlights were done on the old system in Illustrator 10, mostly.  There are a couple touch ups that I’ve been trying to figure…I wanted to have some random patches of straw on the ground for Kalthar’s sheep friend. I also only needed a day to tackle the finishing touches which bodes well for the rest of the comic.  Page three still needs about the same amount of work….page 13 will need a couple days i bet.  Page 17 and 28 I still have to do from scratch… but I think i can worry about that this summer.  it all means i’ll be able to spend more time on the PHM 20 pager this spring, I hope…really happy with the work so far on it.   oh, and i also wanted to work on the Kalthar Cover sometime this month…..there just aren’t enough hours, honestly.  And I’m still procrastinating on the business part….
