Here we have the first page of Irv Novick’s run on Kalthar.  Novick has a very long comics resume and was the breakout artist of the kalthar crew, enjoying a career in comics that lasted into the 1990s.  Norvick was the star artist of Zip Comics, a comic published by MLJ Publications which would be rebranded as Archie comics in years to come.  Kalthar was one of the back up stories in Zip, but the headliner was a feature called Steel Sterling, Man of Steel, written by Shorten.  The Man of Steel moniker pre-dated Superman’s use of it by a few years.  Like George Tuska, the artist who created The Enchanted Dagger, Norvick was a product of Harry Chesler’s comic book studio, the real bullpen of comics lore.  The Chesler Shop was established in the mid 30s in NYC somewhere on 32nd street near 5th or 7th.  It evidently was a real studio….

Good progress on Issues 5 and 6.  Just about finished with the touch ups.  Should have no problem having them both ready for printing by the end of the month.  I have a week off so I might dive into Issue 4.  I still have a big chunk of 4 to contend with but I think the back half is pretty sound.  Might get those pages out of the way first…
